David Gillikin Named Chief of Bibliographic Services Division

David Gillikin, who has headed the NLM’s MEDLARS Management Section since 2003, is the new Chief of Bibliographic Services Division (BSD), under the Division of Library Operations. A veteran of more than 20 years in libraries and scientific publishing, has contributed to many important projects relating to public access, digital content, the evolution of MEDLINE, and the usability and accessibility of databases.

“David’s unique library and publishing experience will be especially helpful to us in the years ahead,” said Sheldon Kotzin, NLM Associate Director for Library Operations, announcing the appointment in April.

Gillikin earned his BS degree in biology, with a minor in chemistry, from Belmont Abbey College, in North Carolina, and an MS in library and information science from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. In addition, he completed coursework toward a PhD in biochemistry at the University of Tennessee/Oak Ridge National Laboratories.
