Nearly 500 million people in more than 200 countries have accessed MedlinePlus for its accurate, up-to-date information. The site, available in both English and Spanish, receives almost 12 million visitors each month and is approaching one billion page views a year.

Widely recognized as one of the best health information Web sites, MedlinePlus consistently ranks highest among government news sites in the American Customer Satisfaction Index.

Other MedlinePlus highlights include:

  • MedlinePlus en español, a Spanish-language version of MedlinePlus, launched in 2002 to become the most comprehensive site of its kind today on the Web;
  • Go Local, the NLM local consumer health information site begun in 2003, now has 27 participants;
  • Translations into more than 40 languages of basic health information to help millions of Americans with limited English skills with their health problems, including better communication with the health care professionals they visit.

MedlinePlus also offers information on drugs and supplements, the latest health news, a medical dictionary, an extensive medical encyclopedia, interactive educational material and more. It features links to many helpful sites, including those to locate clinical trials, understand genetic conditions, and find information on topics of special interest to older Americans.
