The NLM’s History of Medicine Division marked American Archives Month in October with a new Web site, Celebrating the American Medical Record that highlights some of the Library’s outstanding online exhibits.
The site includes the online exhibits That Girl There Is A Doctor In Medicine, featuring archival holdings that document the life of Elizabeth Blackwell, the first woman to graduate from medical school and receive an MD; Joshua Lederberg: Biomedical Science and the Public Interest the story of how a Nobel Prize-winning scientist bridged the divide between science, society, and politics during the second half of the 20th century; and AIDS Ephemera, an exhibit that spotlights NLM’s collection of comics, booklets, pamphlets, posters, cards, and buttons produced by government and private organizations to educate the public about AIDS.
