NIH MedlinePlus Magazine Cover Story Draws Praise

The fall 2008 issue of NIH MedlinePlus the Magazine featuring ABC News Anchor Bob Woodruff and his family drew praise from Audiology Online, which cited the magazine’s special section “Focus on Communication,” for highlighting research by the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD).

The special section commemorated NIDCD’s 20th anniversary in October 2008, with articles on newborn hearing screening, cochlear implants, balance, smell and voice disorders, and other topics. The cover story featured an interview with author Lee Woodruff, who described the challenges the family faces coping with Bob’s traumatic brain injury, suffered while reporting on the war in Iraq, and daughter Nora’s severe hearing loss.

NIH MedlinePlus the Magazine is a quarterly consumer health magazine produced by the Friends of the National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health. It presents the latest medical and healthcare information from the NIH as featured online on the MedlinePlus Web site.
