HSDB: Past, Present, and Future

In May, NLM’s Specialized Information Services Division hosted a special symposium to commemorate the 75th meeting of the Hazardous Substances Data Bank (HSDB) Scientific Review Panel (SRP). The symposium, “The Hazardous Substances Data Bank: Historical Aspects and Future Role as a Toxicology and Environmental Science Resource” covered the history and current use of HSDB, and featured a panel discussion exploring future opportunities for HSDB data enhancement. A videocast of the event is available and runs 210 minutes.

The HSDB contains over 5,000 records on potentially hazardous chemicals including information on human exposure, industrial hygiene, emergency handling procedures, environmental fate, regulatory requirements, and related areas.
