HealthMap, a mapping and tracking resource recently developed with help from a National Library of Medicine grant, facilitates analysis of 2009 H1N1 and seasonal flu activity by state and territory, going back to November 2008. The NLM Extramural Programs Division awards grants for fundamental and applied research in biomedical informatics and bioinformatics.
NLM grantee John Brownstein, MD, assistant professor at Children’s Hospital Boston/Harvard Medical School, was the principal investigator. He collaborated with the Web Communications Division at the US Department of Health and Human Services to implement HealthMap.
