Associate Fellows Make Their Mark at MAC

NLM in Focus congratulates our most recent NLM Associates Fellows who were recognized for their work at the annual meeting of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Medical Library Association held last week in Staunton, Virginia.

Candace Norton and Megan Fratta

Candace Norton, a second year Associate Fellow, won first prize for her poster “Enhancing ‘safety’ and ‘case report’ search filters applied in MEDLINE to support PubMed literature ‘Alerts’ for pharmacovigilance,” co-authored with NLM colleagues Anna Ripple, MLS, Alfred Sorbello, DO, MPH, and Olivier Bodenreider MD, PhD. Norton is spending the second year of her fellowship at the NIH Library as a biomedical librarian with a focus on bibliometrics.

Megan Fratta, an Associate Fellow alumna, won honorable mention for her paper “‘Burnout, Professional’ [MeSH]: A Study on the Subject of Medical Librarian Burnout,” co-authored with Elizabeth Moreton, Nursing Liaison Librarian, at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Another alumni Associate Fellow, Kristine M. Alpi (1997-1998), won first prize for her paper “Learning from Failures in the File Cabinet.” Alpi serves as director of the William Rand Kenan, Jr. Library of Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State University.
