With the Oscars coming up this weekend, we present NLM’s nominees for the 2019 Academy Awards.
Neither made the short list of the Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Sciences, so you won’t see them during Sunday’s telecast, but that doesn’t mean they’re not worth watching.
Our first nominee, in the category of Animated Short Film, has already won an Award of Excellence at the 2018 annual meeting of the Association of Medical Illustrators, so it’s no stranger to the awards circuit. Developed in partnership with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the six-minute animation explores how to resist the growing epidemic of antibiotic resistant bacteria.
Our second nominee, in the category of Live Action Short Film, delivers a futuristic and inspiring blend of data and medicine. If you want an idea of what lies ahead for the world’s largest medical library, it’s required viewing.
